PLEASE NOTE:
The example files camera1.tex and camera2.tex show the layout and usage
of the chi96 LaTeX2e class. The file camera1.tex contains the copyright notice
for Papers, Design Briefings, Short Papers and Interactive Posters,
camera2.tex contains the copyright notice for all the other participation
categories.
If you can run make, make will produce the LaTeX2e class file chi96.cls.
Otherwise, run latex on chi96.ins and it will generate the class file
chi96.cls.
Off course, you also need a recent LaTeX2e.
The style file for all the other categories is under construction.
It should be available soon.
However, the only difference between the two versions is the Copyright
Notice.
The Copyright Notice in Conference Companion Summaries of
Tutorials, Panels, Formal Demonstrations, Videos, Organization Overviews,
Workshops, Special Interest Groups, Doctoral Consortium, and Social Posters
consists of one line only:
(C) Copyright on this material is held by the author(s)

No other permissions to copy or distribute this file in any form are granted.

To install and use this bundle, you need LaTeX2e.
The files:
----------
Makefile - For those running Unix or happen to have a
make: This generates all neccessary files,
including the class file, the documentation
and the example file.
chi96.ins - Installation driver for CHI 96 class
chi96.dtx - Contains chi96.cls and the documentation
readme.txt - The file you are reading.
96pubsf.ps - Example file showing the CHI 96 format using
Microsoft Word (Windows version).
96pubsf.tex - The very same file using the CHI 96 class, to
be formatted with LaTeX2e.
96publtx.tex - This file mentions some differences between normal
TeX reaction/behaviour and CHI 96 (the class).
Please read it carefull.
Contact me, if files are missing (and tell me the way you got it):

Installation:
-------------
* ATTENTION: You need a complete LaTeX2e!
Copy all files to a directory, where TeX/LaTeX can find them.
Run chi96.ins through LaTeX, e.g. at UNIX type:
tex "&latex" chi96.ins
or
latex chi96.ins
You'll get a file named chi96.cls. Copy it to the corresponding
LaTeX-directory.
Alternate method: say
make
and watch.
* ATTENTIONS: You need the multicol style from the LaTeX2e tools package.
You need mflogo.sty to get the right METAFONT logo, if
its missing, just press return...
Bug-reports:
------------
You may use latexbugs.tex, but don't send the report to the LaTeX-team, send
it to one of the adresses in this file above.
Known bugs:
-----------
The placing of the 2.5cm copyright box is not automatic. This is ugly, too,
but will take some more time/work. Will be removed in the next version.
Note:
This is the first official version. So it is probably a big bug...
We will remove all of these as soon as we get to know them.
On the other side, this class is of rather limited use for many LaTeX2e
users. So there are certain things which are uncomfortable but will stay
that way. Flames welcome, tell me what you want and maybe we will change it.
