SIG: Worldwide HCI Professional Education
Tuesday, 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Organizer
- Marian G. Williams, University of Massachusetts Lowell
A good deal of attention hs been paid to HCI education in traditional
academic settings, but much less has been paid to HCI professional
continuing education. A working group is being formed through the
sponsorship of ACM SIGCHI to examine the meaning of professional
education in countries around the world, propose a curriculum for HCI
continuing education, recommend vehicles for delivering that
curriculum, and suggest strategies by which SIGCHI can support
worldwide HCI professional education.
Participants in this SIG will llearn about the SIGCHI working group
and will have an opportunity to influence its direction. All CHI
attendees are invited; participants from outside the U.S. and Canada
are particularly encouraged to attend. The SIG will begin with a
brief presentation, followed by small- and whole-group discussions and
written feedback through a brief questionnaire.
