SIG: Ergonomic Standards for Software: Update for 1996
Tuesday, 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Organizers
- Patricia A. Billingsley, The Merrit Group
- Harry E. Blanchard, AT&T Bell Laboratories
A 1990 European health and safety directive requires member nations
of the European Union (EU) to adopt minimum ergonomic standards for all
computer hardware and software used in office environments. In response,
many EU nations have adopted national ergonomic standards based on ISO
International Standard 9241, "Ergonomic Requirements for Office Work with
VDTs."
In this session, we will review the status of the eight software-specific
parts of ISO 9241, and discuss related national and international
standards efforts.
