CHI 96 invites students to be part of the most exciting event in the Human-Computer Interaction field. Student volunteers are an integral part of the success of each CHI conference.

In return for their help with the conference, Student Volunteers receive many benefits such as complimentary conference registration, reasonable housing, some free meals, an invitation to a reception with leading figures in the CHI community, and a thank-you party for all conference volunteers. You also will receive a FREE commemorative T-shirt announcing your participation in this conference.

A wide variety of positions are available, ranging from audio-visual support to registration assistance. Many of the duties are not glamorous, but all positions provide opportunities to interact with CHI 96 contributors, attendees, and committee members from all parts of the world and many diverse areas of the HCI community.


Qualifications

Volunteers must be undergraduate, master's or doctoral students during the 1995- 1996 academic year. All students, regardless of discipline, are encouraged to apply. No experience is required. We are looking for enthusiastic, intelligent, reliable people.

Volunteers must commit to work a total of 20 hours at the conference between April 11 and April 19.


How To Apply

Please complete and submit the application form. Use either A valid student identification card or letter from your university/school must be presented when you register at the conference. Applications must be received no later than March 4, 1996. Please note, often all Student Volunteer places are filled several months before the actual deadline, so early application is advised.


Compensation Policy

All student volunteers receive free registration for the conference, some free meals, access to housing at reasonable rates, an invitation to the conference reception, and a free t-shirt. A thank-you party will also be provided for all volunteers of the conference.

Rooms are shared with one other student volunteer of the same gender; single rooms are available at additional cost. Exceptions can be negotiated on a case by case basis

All volunteers are responsible for their travel to and from Vancouver and for meals not provided by the conference.
